Artist Statement & Info

My Images are concerned with the visual relationship and interaction of people using the urban environment as a back drop together with architectural elements that create a graphic vehicle to explore design.

At a distance each work evolves into a complex geometric structure that draws the viewer to the single block that the work has grown from. This unique visual duality is the byproduct of the basic repetition process.

With this “Less is More”, approach the base photograph is shot repeatedly from a fixed focal point on a tripod to create a large volume of images with a consistency to work from.

Earlier assemblages were created conventionally in a darkroom and pierced together by hand with the evolution of digital photography this tedious process has been redefined and with the tools that are now available have extended shooting limitations and improved visual conception.

My first photo-construction was created in 1975 at WSCAD ( West Surrey of Art and Design ) on a graphic design course before transferring full time into Photography.

The Large works are still constructed and cut by hand. The prints are digitally printed on large Epson printers using Archival Ulltrachrome inks and papers in limited editions of 100.
